Thank you to everyone who came out to Trash or Treat! We appreciate all of our amazing volunteers for keeping Plano clean, green and less spooky! Check out the impact they had in our community:
Trash or Treat combines our annual Fall Waterways Cleanup with a fun drive-thru event to celebrate Halloween and thank cleanup participants for helping keep Plano waste free.
The Fall Waterways Cleanup event began in 2017 as a way to focus cleanup efforts on the creeks throughout Plano. When it comes to litter, waterways are typically where we see the biggest problems. Any excess water on our streets collects litter as it flows down to storm drains and continues on to our creeks. Also, any trash that has made its way to waterways in areas to the north will eventually flow to Plano. These two issues combined create huge amounts of litter in our waterways.
Cleanup events, like the Fall Waterways Cleanup and the monthly creek cleanups, can help make Plano a cleaner and greener space. This not only benefits our residents and local wildlife, but all of the waterways our creeks eventually flow into, like the Trinity River and even the Gulf of Mexico.
