ring your friends and join Professional DJs Dan Quinn & Kaivan "KB" Bazleh for our OontzKids Summer DJ Camp. Here we'll learn about what a DJ does, how and why they do it, and get hands on experience with real DJ equipment, ending with a showcase performance by each student at the end of the camp. Topics covered will include different genres of music and how DJs came about, the role of a DJ in the world of Spotify and Apple Music, basic music concepts such as beats, bars and tempos, phrasing, beat matching, setting cues, song transitions, and even adding color to mixes with cool effects. All equipment will be provided. Students will work in pairs on each station. On the final day of camp, each student will have the opportunity to showcase what they've learned and put on a short 10-15 minute dance set for their parents and classmates! And oh yeah, everyone gets a super cool, really comfy t-shirt.

In today's music, we hear so many more sounds than could ever be produced with traditional instruments. Whether you listen to Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, EDM, movie soundtracks, or even country, almost all music today is produced and consumed using some sort of software. If you've ever wanted to create your own beats, your own sounds, or your own style, or just record something of your own, OontzKids DJ Academy has just the class for you - our all new summer camp for producing and performing music with Ableton Live! In this class, we'll learn the fundamentals on software-based virtual instruments. We'll learn how to program and play these instruments, as well as how to record, save, modify, loop, sample, and build a unique live performance of your own customized tracks for an audience. All equipment will be provided including computers, software, synth plugins, MIDI controllers, speakers, and headphones.
