Department Accreditation
The City of Plano Police Department is proud to have been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) since 1992. In November 2012, the department received the Accreditation with Excellence Award, which designated Plano as an extraordinary example in Law Enforcement.
A Meritorious Service award, given to agencies with 15 or more continuous years as an accredited agency, was also presented to the Plano Police Department at that time. View more information regarding our accreditation status.
Employment
A Police Recruit Civil Service Entrance Examination will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The exam will be held at the Plano ISD Sockwell Center, 6301 Chapel Hill Boulevard, Plano, TX 75093. Open Carry and Campus Carry in Texas
In accordance with House Bill 910, Texans will be allowed to carry handguns in plain view starting January 1, 2016. To help citizens understand these changes, the Plano Police department has compiled some answers to our most Frequently Asked Questions.
